Hosted by Patricia Navarra of Hofstra University, Williams 101 is the perfect opportunity to brush up on your Tennessee Williams and William Shakespeare.

With brief, informative backgrounds on each playwright, the discussion will prime your pump for a weekend of theater. Peppered with Festival artists, Williams 101 provides audience members with practical insights into the thematic through-lines of the Festival lineup.

“We keep our line-up of shows fresh and diverse by exploring new themes every year," says Festival Executive Director Jef Hall-Flavin. "No matter how much you may think you know about Tennessee Williams, there is always more to learn. We try to tailor the Williams 101 series to offer context and provide us with new ways of thinking, as we navigate through the festival. We are always eager to welcome newcomers to Tennessee Williams, but it’s equally important for our returning guests to understand why we chose these plays, and how the shows interact with each other on a thematic level. This year, we are happy to host the very knowledgeable Patricia Navarra, who will lead our conversation about the intersections of Williams and Shakespeare plays.”
