A reality-bending comedy.

Pratfalls, shame, and terror mix into this hilarious nightmare of a rehearsal in which the actors complain to their Southern playwright about his florid language, written by Tennessee Williams in 1973. The borders between comedy and tragedy drop as do the borders between performance and reality.

This is the American premiere of the play, directed by Nick Potenzieri, who staged the Festival’s heart-wrenching Orpheus Descending in 2010 and 2011.

Jeremy Lawrence returns to the Festival to play the role of "The Playwright" (a stand-in for Williams). Jeremy is an award-winning actor, playwright and lyricist. He has written and appeared in three Tennessee Williams one-man shows, including Talking Tennessee, Everyone Expects Me to Write Another ‘Streetcar’ and Lonely Man's Habit, which have been seen around the country. He created the role of “the Writer” in Five by Tenn at the Kennedy Center and subsequently played it at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Mr. Lawrence appears in two of the playwright’s late one–acts, The Traveling Companion and The Chalky White Substance under the direction of David Kaplan.

Craig Dudley, an actor who befriended Williams in the 1970s, plays the slumming British stage director late for a dinner party in the Hamptons.

Katie Wieland (left) plays a fallen New England society girl. Originally from Colorado, Katie is a New York-based actor and a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. This is her first role with The Infinite Theatre and her Provincetown debut.

The veil between performance and reality is made thinner with the production's actual stage manager, Bryan Marshall, playing Hilary, the stage manager of the play-within-the-play. Likewise, the actual stagehand, David Cataldo, plays the role of a stagehand.

Jack Kesy (left) plays a brutal Bourbon Street strip-joint barker. Raised in New York City, Jack lived in East Germany and Poland before studying theatre in London. He served in The United States Marine Corps and then settled in New York City to pursue acting. Film credits include the ensemble film 8:46, Morgan, Yelling to the Sky and Grand Street. He's also appeared on stage in Diary Of Anne Frank and The Last Night of Ballyhoo.
