Our Mississippi Friends

"Tennessee" was really from Mississippi.

Born in Columbus, Mississippi, in 1911, and raised as a child in Clarksdale, Williams couldn't help but infuse his writing with the color, cadence and characters from his youth spent in the heart of the Mississippi Delta.

At this year's kick-off dinner, we toast our Festival's special relationship with the state of Mississippi. For many years, our productions have traveled to the Tennessee Williams Tribute at his birthplace in Columbus. More recently, our Orpheus Descending also traveled to Oxford, home of the University of Mississippi, and to Jackson, the state capital.

Come and meet our good friends from the Magnolia State:

  • Brenda Caradine, director of the Tennessee Williams Tribute

  • Sarah McCullough, cultural heritage tourism manager for Mississippi

  • Senator Hob Bryan and more

Let them prepare you for the weekend with a big helping of good old-fashioned Southern charm.
