Welcome from our Board President
Hello from Provincetown! I’m delighted to be sending you my first message as the new president of the board of directors of the Festival. I’ve had the honor of serving on the Board for many years and appreciate all the support you’ve given the Festival as a theater goer, an event attendee, a volunteer, a donor or all of the above. Our supporters make the Festival possible, and our board, staff and performers are most grateful for your continued interest in live theater and our work.
Planning is well underway for the upcoming 18th Festival, September 21 through 24, 2023, in Provincetown. As you may have heard, this season will focus on Tennessee Williams’ lifelong, but little known, fascination with Science Fiction & Fantasy. From his teenage years to the months before he died, writing science fiction and fantasy freed Williams to boldly explore his fears and hopes for the future. As always, our performances will be set in creative spaces at new venues you may not have visited before and, of course, we are again bringing talented performers and directors from the far corners of the globe.
In the meantime, I hope you can join us in P-town for some fun events this Spring. Our yearly Tennessee Williams Birthday Bash will be on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m. at the Crown and Anchor. This event will include a reading of a short story by Tennessee Williams where a gay vampire makes an escape in a spaceship. The annual Spring Performance Gala will be on Saturday, June 3 at 4 p.m. at the Harbor Hotel. We’ll be sharing more details about these events soon, and I hope to see you at one or both events.
I’m looking forward to serving you and the Festival as the board president and would welcome your thoughts about how we, together, can make the Festival even better. Please feel free to reach out to info@twptown.org.
Stay warm this winter and I hope to see you soon!
